Universal Projects (GRP) Limited is a small, family run business with two directors - Paul & Diane Ching, currently in its 8th year of business.

The Evolution range of Glass Re-enforced Plastic (GRP) boats is professionally manufactured using a skilfully applied hand lay-up technique. Every process from the moulding through to the finished product is overseen by Paul Ching, who has designed, plugged, moulded and now makes the Evolution & Universal range. The boats are all made to order and although we have a specification to build to, this is only a guide as each Skipper has their own views on how a boat should be fitted-out and most importantly - their own budget. With this in mind, we decided to have 3 stages of build:

Paul has been in the boat building profession since 1981 and has a vast amount of knowledge from pattern and plug making, mould making, laminating, engineering and fit out of boats. He started with an idea of making a sportier looking boat that would suit the image skippers were saying they wanted. From designing the boat on a scrap piece of paper, the design was then drawn properly to scale and a plug made from the drawings. A mould was then made and the production of his own design commenced in 2001 - it was of course the Evolution 38.

Diane is the first person you are likely to come into contact with either by telephone or e-mail. She keeps the office running smoothly and the lads in-line!

Their son, James, has worked with them since leaving school in 2005 and is very keen on boat design - however, to design boats you have to know them so he's started from the bottom and is working his way up learning the whole procedure of making the Evolution & Universal boats alongside his Dad and the rest of the team.

	Mark who has worked with Paul for approx. 25 years so between them they have a whole wealth of experience. He is our floor manager and keeps everything 'ship shape' quite literally!
	Jason - has been with the company since it started and is our store manager.
	Antony - is a qualified car body repairer which is highly useful in our line of work. He has adapted these skills to make repairs to mouldings, he also buffs and polishes everything ensuring the highest quality finish before the boats leave the factory.
	Smiley Dave also joined in January 2007 and is working alongside Antony - nicknamed smiley as he doesn't say very much but smiles at you instead!
